Install NCheck Bio Attendance server

NCheck Bio Attendance setup file can be downloaded from the download section for 32bit and 64bit platforms.

Note

Administrator privilege is required to install NCheck Bio Attendance server.

To install NCheck Bio Attendance, proceed through the following steps

  • Run installer

  • Read and accept the NCheck Bio Attendance licensing agreement

  • Set the installation path

  • Choose NCheck Bio Attendance for windows installation options

Note

Installing NCheck Bio Attendance server will install NCheck Bio Attendance standard client.

Select component dialog
  • Choose Create a desktop shortcut

  • Review the installation details

    Review settings dialog
  • Select Install to proceed with the installation

  • After successful installation, provide valid NCheck Bio Attendance license as mentioned in NCheck Bio Attendance License Activation. If the server is running without any problem, NCheck Bio Attendance icon will be shown in the Windows tray in green color.

  • Finally, you can see the completing window as follows.

    • Start NCheck Bio Attendance Server configuration

      Select to open NCheck Bio Attendance server configuration.

    • Run NCheck Bio Attendance client

      Select to open NCheck Bio Attendance Standard client for Windows.

      Select to view NCheck Bio Attendance user guide (this document).

Monitoring and Managing NCheck Bio Attendance server

NCheck Bio Attendance server monitoring and managing is done through the server tray.

NCheck Bio Attendance server tray provides following options to monitor and control NCheck Bio Attendance server.

Icon status

NCheck Bio Attendance server tray icon indicates the following status.

  • status_icon_running : Server is running and ready

  • status_icon_stopped : Server has stopped

  • status_icon_stopped_errors : Server has stopped with errors

  • status_icon_running_warning : Server is running with warnings

Notifications

NCheck Bio Attendance Server notifications are showing when the status change. The notifications are follows,

Tray icon tooltip

Tray icon tooltip is showing the following information.

  • Status of the NCheck Bio Attendance service

  • Status of the NCheck Bio Attendance server

  • NCheck Bio Attendance Server database path

  • NCheck Bio Attendance Server port

NCheck Bio Attendance server configuration

NCheck Bio Attendance Server using the configuration can be applied using the NCheck Bio Attendance configuration window. It has the following configuration sections

Note

NCheck Bio Attendance uses a self-signed key certificate by default. Above parameters can be changed to configure a SSL key certificate.

  • Port

    HTTPS port for NCheck Bio Attendance server. The default port is 8443

Database

  • Database

    Select the database. Following databases are supported. SQLite is used by default.

  • File name

    Database file name. This field is available only for SQLite. It can provide the SQLite database file path. It can also select an existing NCheck Bio Attendance file.

Note

It can also select NCheck Bio Attendance version 4.x unencrypted database file for SQLite database file name for migration purpose. Version 4.x databases are automatically migrated to version 5.x database.

  • Server

    Database server name or IP address

  • Port

    Database server port

  • Database name

    Database name/ schema

  • User name

    Database user name

  • Password

    Database user authentication password. In case of SQLite, password is database file encryption password.

NCheck Bio Attendance version 4 database migration

NCheck Bio Attendance version 4 SQLite database file can be migrated and use with NCheck Bio Attendance server version 5. To migrate and use a version 4 SQLite database

  • Select the version 4 database for SQLite database file name

  • Save the configuration

NCheck Bio Attendance server detects version 4 SQLite databases and automatically upgrade it to version 5.

Database encryption

NCheck Bio Attendance server SQLite databases can be encrypted by using a password. To keep the database unencrypted, it can keep the database password empty.

Note

To change the encryption password, it needs to stop the server. Databases created unencrypted cannot be encrypted later. Encrypted database encryption password can be changed.

Restore database
  • Backup file

    Select the database backup zip file to restore.

  • Password

    Enter the database backup password.

E-Mail

E-mail server for the NCheck Bio Attendance server.

  • Host

    E-Mail host

  • Send port

    SMTP Server port. The default port is 25.

  • Receive port

    POP3 server port to receive emails. default port is 110.

  • SSL2

    Enable SSL2 configuration for mail server.

  • User name

    User name of the Email server

  • Password

    The password of the Email server
